Course Details
A 6-week course commencing Friday 20th October 2023. The Health Qigong Form we will explore for this series is based on movements depicted on ancient Silk Scroll paintings, excavated as part of the Ma Wang Dui tombs discovery of Changsha, in the Hunan Province of China in the 1970s. These vital and important archeological scroll relics date back to approximately 168BC, and give a clearer picture into how health and wellbeing were sought historically through physical movement, the use of intention and the cultivation of energy flow. The Ma Wang Dui Health Qigong Form was created by the International Health Qigong Federation from images depicted in these silk scroll paintings. The Form consists of 12 gentle movements, which are very graceful yet strengthening, making this Form a much loved and popular one throughout the world. It is said to help improve circulation of Qi through the body, as well as enhance the overall functioning of the organs and systems of the body. Each movement works specific energy pathways or meridian lines within the body. By inviting these movements into the body with mindful intention, we are helping our whole system to strengthen, balance, recalibrate, heal and integrate. We especially welcome the benefits to the Nervous System, the Body, Mind, Heart and Spirit. Wellbeing is felt as a sense of being grounded and centered, with a more embodied experience of the movements. These slow flowing practices can remind us of the reasons why they are often called Meditation in Movement. Through regular practice, this mindful, more embodied way of being becomes more effortless, habitual, and comfortable. A return to naturalness. Venue: Online via Zoom. A copy of the live recording will be available to registered participants after each session. Dates: Fridays, beginning 20th October 2023. (Note: No session on 3rd November) Time: 9.30am Cost: €75 for the 6 week Course. Dana/Donation welcome if experiencing any financial difficulty.
