Course Details
A 6-week course commencing Friday 13th September 2024. The Daoyin Yang Sheng Gong set is a sequence of 12 Qigong movements which was developed by Professor Zhang Guang De in the 1970s in the Beijing University of Physical Education. Seeking to gain relief from illness himself, he embarked on a deep study of traditional Chinese medicine, and especially the ancient Daoyin movements. This medical Qigong system that he created awarded him a State honour, and the sequence was incorporated into the national fitness programme in China. Daoyin is the original name for Qigong practices, and translates to "leading and guiding the qi". Where intention goes, qi follows. By bringing our sincere intention to our movements, we learn that this also guides the flow of energy in the body. Yang Sheng is a term that refers to self-cultivation practices that nourish life, and are thought to promote health, well-being and longevity. This is a beautiful set with tremendous detail in each movement, designed to support and promote good health throughout the body, mind and spirit. As with all courses, we emphasise the core principles of T'ai Chi and Qigong. We take a meditative approach with inner listening to the body and its feedback. We will continue to build on mindful awareness as we practice. Venue: Online via Zoom. A copy of the live recording will be available to registered participants after each session. Dates: Fridays, beginning 13th September 2024. Time: 9.30am-10.45am Cost: €85 for the 6-week Course. Dana/Donation welcome if experiencing any financial difficulty.
