Course Details
In January, we will begin the year with an exploration of the historical and cultural background to the practice of T'ai Chi. T'ai Chi and Qigong are ancient Chinese systems of movement using gentle, relaxing body movements for the promotion of health and wellbeing. The training combines physical movement, meditation practice and energy work to promote personal growth, balance and strength on all levels. It has been called moving meditation and shadow boxing due to the hidden strength and martial applications which form an integral part of the circular flowing movements. The Course will include learning about the history, culture and practice of T'ai Chi. We will also learn a short T'ai Chi sequence of continuous flowing movement, together with the energetic and martial applications of each movement. T'ai Chi and Qigong embodiment principles will guide us, and reveal how best to incorporate these experientially into our movements. As with all courses, we take a slow, meditative approach with inner listening to the body and its feedback. We will continue to build on mindful awareness as we practice. 6-Week Course Venue: Fermoy Community Youth Centre, P61TK73 Time: 12noon Date: Fridays, starting 20th January 2023 Cost: €75 (Dana/donation welcome if experiencing financial difficulty) Booking Essential: Email: taichi.qigong.haven@gmail.com
