Contemplation is an immediate and in some sense passive intuition of the inmost reality, of our spiritual self. Thomas Merton. Chair/Seated Qigong offers opportunities for the body to release tension, to expand and experience energy flow. Qigong movements help to regulate the Nervous System, relax the body and greatly enhance meditation and peace of mind. An embodied awareness supports understanding, compassion and insight. Having the supportive conditions of a dedicated place to practice can greatly help to develop and strengthen your own personal practice. A Meditation practice helps to foster calmness and clarity, and can open us to a deep sense of wellbeing. It also helps to cultivate and nourish the spiritual component of our lives. Contemplation is our experience of the divine. (Fr. Thomas Keating, Contemplative Outreach) Working with the meditative aspects of Qigong, this ongoing meditation course is designed to nourish the inner places of stillness, contemplation and wisdom. When we quiet the body and mind, great peace, rest and healing can take place. We will be guided by teachings from the Mystics of all traditions, chair/seated Qigong, silent Meditation as well as practices to cultivate deeper listening, stillness and presence. By navigating the landscape of stillness, we learn to recognise and stabilise as our true nature. Surrendering to this true nature is humility. Attributes such as simplicity, patience, reverence and compassionate action are great antidotes to the personal and societal challenges that come to us. A connection to Stillness allows these innate qualities within us to emerge and thrive. A gentle, experiential and somatic class. This Course may suit those drawn to Contemplation, spirituality, the Wisdom teachings, as well as those recovering from injury/illness or who prefer a chair/seated practice. New 5-week Course Venue: Glounthaune Community Centre, Glounthaune, Cork.
